Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has donated an ambulance to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Kaduna State Chapter.

The hospital has been providing free healthcare services to the residents for about 30 years.

The ambulance was presented to the organisation yesterday by the commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos.

At the ceremony, the executive chairman of the Kaduna State Senior Secondary School Education Board, Dr Suwaiba Shehu Ibrahim, said the donation would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide healthcare services to the community.

She said FOMWAN Hospital, located on Katuru Road in Kaduna, caters for women, children and other members of the community through its free medical services.

Ibrahim urged the management to maintain the ambulance properly and ensure its judicious use to guarantee that it continues to serve the intended beneficiaries.

“My advice to them is to maintain it, make judicious use of it and make sure it is kept clean and in proper condition all the time, so that it can continue to serve the people,” she said.

She expressed confidence that the organisation would take good care of the vehicle, citing its longstanding presence and the hospital’s years of service to the community.

Upon receiving the ambulance, the President of FOMWAN, Kaduna State Chapter, Hajia Nafisat Musa Isah, expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani, saying the donation would help the organisation expand its healthcare services for less privileged members of the community.

Isah said FOMWAN celebrated its 40th anniversary last year but had not received such support from any government, describing the ambulance as a significant milestone in the organisation’s history.

She expressed gratitude to the State government, adding that the donation would motivate the organisation to extend its services to more people.

The FOMWAN president said the organisation would remember the gesture at both the state and national levels.
