1. In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has followed with keen interest and deep concern over the recent update published by Daily Trust regarding the case of Walidah, a minor from Jigawa State who was reportedly abducted and unlawfully detained . Walidah has remained in detention weeks after the ruling, and that the individual alleged to be responsible has not been handed over to the appropriate law-enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution.
As a faith-based women’s organization committed to the protection of women, children, human dignity, and justice, This situation is unacceptable and deeply troubling. Since no individual is above the law, court orders must be obeyed without delay, irrespective of the status or affiliation of those involved.

A child’s rights must be protected at all times, in line with Nigerian law, Islamic principles, and international conventions to which Nigeria is a signatory.
Justice delayed is justice denied, especially where the welfare of a minor is concerned.
Allegations of abuse, coercion, or unlawful detention must be thoroughly and transparently investigated for fairness.
FOMWAN therefore calls on the relevant authorities to:
Immediately comply with the court order regarding Walidah’s release and reunification with her parents.
Ensure that all allegations are properly investigated and that due process is followed without obstruction or favoritism.

FOMWAN calls on civil society organizations, religious bodies, and human rights groups to continue advocating peacefully and lawfully for justice in this matter, so that public confidence in the justice system is preserved and such incidents are not repeated.
FOMWAN remains committed to standing with vulnerable women and children and will continue to monitor this case closely, in shaa Allah.
Justice for Walidah.
Justice for every child regardless of Religious affiliation.
