Strengthening Community Responsibility for Every Child.

On this Orphans’ Day, the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) calls attention to a quiet but urgent responsibility within our communities: the care and protection of children who have lost parental support. In Islam, the wellbeing of the orphan is not optional it is a trust. A trust that speaks to our humanity, our faith, and our collective future.

Supporting an orphan is not an act of charity alone; it is an investment in our shared humanity and a fulfillment of our moral and spiritual responsibility.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reminded us that those who care for orphans hold a special place of honor. This is both a spiritual opportunity and a social duty.

Today many orphans face daily challenges without the basic support systems that others may take for granted.

Empathy for the orphans will not only give them a sense of belonging but transmits that motherly love and care they missed.

Let us come together with compassion and purpose, extending a hand to those who need it most. When we support orphans in our communities, we are not only uplifting individuals but also strengthening the very fabric of our society.

Together, we can create hope, restore dignity, and build a future where no child feels neglected or forgotten.

We encourage every member of our community to take a step toward making a difference. This can be through mentorship, material support, adoption, educational assistance, or simply showing kindness and inclusion. Many orphans can be bright but lack of support and push will frustrate that ability. Collective efforts can transform the lives of our orphans. Let us build communities where no child feels forgotten, where every orphan finds family in society, and where healing begins through love in action.

Together, we can be that difference.
