In the vibrant city of Kaduna in August 2025, Muslim women from every corner of Nigeria — and guests from the United Kingdom, United States, and other African countries — gathered for a momentous occasion: the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Annual National Conference, which also marked the organisation’s 40th anniversary.

The theme of the Confrence was “Empowering Muslim Women in the Face of Climate Change: Building Resilience, Sustainability and Community Development while Showcasing FOMWAN’s Achievements,” the event was a blend of celebration, reflection, and strategic dialogue. Delegates discussed urgent issues like climate action, drug abuse, insecurity, and community development, urging coordinated efforts from government and stakeholders.

The conference was officially opened by Vice President Kashim Shettima’s representative, and dignitaries — including representatives of the First and Second Ladies and top government officials. — lauded FOMWAN’s four decades of service. �
